“Dear Paul and your fabulous associates,

I wanted to drop you a note and let you know how happy I am with your work, your great sense of design and your first class business acumen.

When I first contacted you I was torn between painting my house or preserving the natural wood. You were able to guide me to the correct decision to preserve my house through your expertise and vast knowledge of homes in Marin County. Your crew was so skilled at their craft. From the power wash, to the wood stain, to the trim paint, the quality of the workmanship is exceptional. Not only was the workmanship outstanding but also the entire crew was always so conscientious.

Thank you so much for referring a roofer and electrician to me. Rafael and his crew did fabulous job on the roof and Mike is an exceptional electrician. Again, their work was perfect and it was such a delight to work with both Rafael, Mike and their crews.

Thanks also for being so flexible with your financing. I was able to get my work completed in a reasonable time and balance my budget at the same time. You went beyond the call of duty by extending financing and it made the entire process so easy.

As I move forward doing other projects on my home, I will never make a move without your advice. You are an indispensable source of knowledge!
You're the best!!”

Thanks so much,
Robyn Kaufman

“Dear Paul, and Crew:

We want to share with to share with you our satisfaction and that of the employees of Portal Publications with the excellent job you have just completed on power washing and preserving the natural wood shingles on our building.

Having worked with many contractors and workman, we have experienced our fair share of frustration and disappointment with their style and productivity. However, with Marin Wood Restoration and Painting, we had a very positive experience.

Your bid presentation was excellent, leaving no doubt about the parameters of the job. We knew exactly what you were proposing and no stone was left unturned. Your clearly defined list of upgrades was especially helpful in our decision making.

We particularly appreciated being kept informed of the progress on a daily basis as well as the excellent information and advice on what needed to be done and what our options were. The crews were professional, polite, friendly, unobtrusive, and attentive to detail. They worked hard and never wasted time. They appeared to really enjoy their work and were not satisfied until things were done right.

The artists in our building, a perfectionistic crew, very articulate in expressing their opinions, were very pleased with not only the quality of the work but the fact that they were not disturbed or interrupted in their own workday schedules. Our visitors and vendors have commented on the quality of the work and the conscientiousness of the crews.

And last but not least, we felt the price was fair.

Thank you so much for providing such a good experience for all of us at Portal Publications. We look forward to your return to paint the trim after the first of the year. It would be our pleasure to provide a reference for you if needed.”

Sincerely,
Mary Christensen, Administrative Manager

“Dear Paul and Blaine, July 1995

When our house was built in 1972 it had redwood plywood siding and redwood decks. When we bought it in 1988 we knew that it was a matter of time before we have to replace the siding and do repairs on the deck.

We replaced the siding with singles a couple of years ago. When we decided to have the decks washed and preserved I was concerned that we might be doing a face lift on wood with no life left in it. I was wrong. Under years of grime and oxidation there was healthy viable wood. With a few minor repairs our decks have many years of life left in them.

Thanks so much for a job well done. We appreciate your attention to detail, including the clean up when you were done. We are now thinking about having you wash and preserve our shingles, which are beginning to oxidize in the hot Marin sun.”

Sincerely,
Pam Swartout

“To whom it may concern:

When we added to our deck recently, we created a tricky situation. The old decking was stained almost black. We didn't want to cover up the beautiful new wood to look like the old, but we wanted to preserve both parts and, ideally, make them match.

Paul Burrous of Marin Wood Restoration and Painting suggested that we see if we could strip off the old stain. After testing a small area, that's what we decided to do.

It turned out that the main deck didn't strip as successfully as the test area, and we were left with unsightly patches of old stain that didn't come out. Paul had cautioned us that this might happen, but he went the extra mile for us anyway and did more stripping and sanding till he got rid of all the blotches. Then he helped us pick a light stain that pulled the old and new wood together so everything matched. The result is stunning and exactly what we'd hoped for.

Paul's expertise and his determination to give us the deck we wanted made all the difference here. He and his associates were a pleasure to work with from start to finish, and we recommend Marin Wood Restoration and Painting in the highest terms.“

“Dear Paul:

We want to thank you and your crew for the splendid painting job you performed on our house. In the past year we worked with a half dozen contractors and subcontractors while we had our house remodeled. We can say without hesitation that Marin Wood Restoration was the best group we had. First of all you gave us excellent information in advising us what needed to be done. You gave us a prompt and comprehensive estimate at a fair price with excellent value. We had lower bids, but with markedly inferior products and/or service. We also had much higher bids that hardly matched your standards. Second, you allowed us to modify some of the painting scheme and gave us exchange credit that was fair, even generous. Our normal experience with contractors has been that we do not get much credit if we omit something from the contract, but we do get charged exorbitantly if we add anything. Third, your crew, particularly Blaine and Hans were wonderfully professional in the very best sense of the term. They were friendly, courteous, did great work, kept us informed of their scheduling (and kept their appointments!). Fourth, they were outstanding in the little details that make them standout among workers: no loud blaring of radios, no swearing or loud yelling, keeping the premises clean, parking their trucks so they would not adversely impact those living near us-often overlooked things that help us keep good relations with our neighbors. Finally Blaine and Hans came over to make a final inspection and toured the house with us to ensure that everything looked well. Those details that did not meet their standards, they cheerfully fixed immediately. (This was not the usual contractors final inspection that turns into an adversarial give and take!) It has been a long and difficult remodeling year. The house looks wonderful. Having an outstanding contractor at the end is like having a wonderfully tasty crème brulee at the end of a special meal. Thanks for helping us end our project on such a high and pleasant note!”

Sincerely,
Maria and Harry Goya

“Dear Blaine and Paul:

We've already told you both many times how happy we are with the restoration you accomplished on our darkened, cedar-shake home. The sides and decks are now truly beautiful, and we're very pleased with color blend you were able to achieve. We're also aware that Blaine's climbing skills made it possible to do the entire job without scaffolding, even on our steep slope. Truly remarkable, and quite a cost saving for us! One of the best compliments we've received is that all our neighbors think it looks very good. Needless to say, we will be delighted to recommend your work to anyone that might inquire. Pleas simply tell them to drive by our house any time and see for themselves. Thanks again.”

Sincerely,
Herb and Janet Peterson

“Dear Paul:

I want to thank you and your staff for making the project of restoring the woodwork and shingles on our house such a pleasant experience. My wife and I are so thankful to have found you and your delightful crew.

Due to our apprehension to find a contractor that would put in the love and care that the house deserves we delayed making a commitment and made the job that much more difficult. We have worked with many contractors and Old World craftsmen over the years and we have to say you are the best painting and wood restoration firm we have worked with. Your men were professional, courteous, punctual and showed an obvious concern for the integrity of their work. These are such rare qualities to find!

Thank you for seeing the job through on time and on budget, even in the face of adversity and surprises in the project. It's a pleasure working with you and I can certainly recommend your services without qualification.”

Best Regards,
Bill Guerin

“Dear Paul,

Thank you for doing just an outstanding job. Sharon and I were so excited to see our decks come back to life. And you didn't hold it against me with your bill considering I'm your Tax Collector. “

“Dear Paul and Blaine:

Thank you for assistance in selecting the stain color for our shingles and decks.

We are very pleased with how it came out and how it was accomplished.

Paul, the time you spent showing us the wide assortment of stain possibilities was of immeasurable help. Seeing the outcome of homes whose shingles were approximately the same age and condition as ours helped us to do appropriate comparisons. There were so many different choices, but by seeing the variations we were able to get a good idea of what we wanted. Both of you were very informative in the importance of good coverage and how to accomplish such. We realized in the conversations we had with you both that you cared about doing a good job that will last several years and about what is involved to accomplish this. We selected a color we liked very much but wanted it to be a little lighter. Blaine, your knowledge of color blends and the effect they would have in the outcome took into consideration things we, as owners, had not thought about, such as the fact that most of our home is shaded, but with the south side getting direct sun and the brunt of rain and wind. Both Richard and I felt we could trust your opinion. Thank you Blaine. Thank you also for the many warnings you gave us about how dark it will start out so that we were not shocked when the treatment was still wet. In just a few days it had started to mellow and is beautiful.

Your workmen were very considerate of our property and plants, and were delightful. A pleasant surprise was the window cleaning, which was not expected. Again, thank you.

It was a pleasure doing business with you and your company and we would be pleasant to recommend you.”

Respectfully,
Richard and Nancy Gaines

“Dear Blain, Paul and crew:

After having viewed many proprieties that Marin Wood Restoration had completed, I had no doubt that your company was the right choice for Skylark Meadows Homeowners Association. I am very proud to say that we were than pleased with the results.

Thanks for the great staining and painting job you have just completed at Skylark Meadows condominium complex. The buildings have never looked better. Many homeowners have commented on how great staining of the buildings came out…..”much better than any other staining job that has been done in prior years on the property” is the comment I have heard many times. The attention to detail is also a rare find these days. I was quite impressed with not only the overall appearance of the property, but with the attention to detail that make the property look much better. Also your crew was very pleasant, hard working and helpful with homeowners who needed help moving their personal items from decks and patios.

I would highly recommend Marin Wood Restoration to anyone who wants a job done right with the right products. It certainly was an educational learning about how the products make a difference in the final outcome of the appearance and longevity of the buildings, which is something we were certainly looking for with our redwood siding.”

Sincerely,
